North Midlands League, Heanor
We had a great day at Heanor in the third of these League fixtures. The wet and gloomy day did nothing to detract from a whole series of bright performances.
We got off to a flying start with an excellent 4thplace from Amy Aldridge in the Under 11 girls. Amy is now 5thin the overall standings. Well done, Amy.
The Under 13 boys produced a really good team effort and have now moved into second position overall. Both Dylan Izzet and Josh Pegg improved on their previous positions with 18 (27) and 27 (30) respectively. They were led home by Ryan Butler who finished an excellent 7th. A podium place beckons for the team if we can keep this up.
The stars of the show were undoubtedly the Under 13 girls. Eve Rowley in 7thled the team home but she was hotly pursued by Matilda McGrath in 8thand Mya Acharya in 11th. These were all improved results (9,16,17) from the last race. It was a brilliant individual and team effort and the girls are in a good second place in the overall standings. In the individual standings Eve is currently 4th, Matilda is 7thand Mya 8th. A very impressive set of results. Well done girls.
The Under 15 girls and Under 17 men produced very good quality fields and McKenzie Smith-Byrne (15th) and Charlie Combey (18th) did well to finish as they did. Charlie has now improved over the three races and is now 13thoverall whilst McKenzie is 8thoverall. They are both to be congratulated for their consistency, commitment and sheer hard work.
It was a lovely day all round with everyone running their socks off.
