North Midlands Cross Country League
Heanor December 2nd 2017
U11 Boys and Girls Teams still top of the League
Before we get to the results from Saturday I would like to say a big “thank you” to all the parents, grandparents and friends who brought the athletes to Heanor on Saturday. It is not easy to balance a host of family commitments and competing sporting activities. The efforts of everyone who volunteered to walk through the mud and support all the athletes is much appreciated indeed, especially as some had also ran in the schools’ races earlier in the day!!
Our under 11 girls continue to lead the team event after 3 races. Amy Aldridge improved to 3rd place and is now 2nd in the overall competition with one race to go. Mya Acharya improved to 6th and is now 4th overall and Myah Seager finished 23rd…. which brought the team home in equal first on the day. We have a lead of just 35 points going into the last race in January at Nottingham. We will need everyone to do their best to hold this position as our rivals will be pulling out all the stops to catch us.
Well done girls.
Once again the Under 11 boys were not to be outdone. Congratulations to Eammon Jille who won the race and to Ryan Butler who was 2nd, Robert Wardlow 4th, Sam Tansey 13th, Cahan Frost 22nd and Josh Pegg who improved another 9 places to 25th. The team won the event and now lead the competition by 77 points with just the one race to go. This was a brilliant team effort with brilliant individual performances. Ryan now leads the individual competition. Robert is 3rd, Sam 7th and Josh 21st.
The under 13 boys continued to hold on to the overall bronze position. It was another great team effort. Ashley Butler was 5th, Sam Wright, 15th, Danny-Ray Murdey 21st and Kai Bolsover improved 15 places on the last race to finish 26th! Ash is now 3rd overall, Sam is 5th and Danny-Ray 8th. The mud may have been sticky but they stuck to their task. Well done to every one of them.
I should also mention Ysa Murdey who improved another 4 places to finish 21st in the under 15 girls.
I’m just off to clean my trainers……… (And I wasn’t even running!)
