North mids X/C league round 1 Markeaton

There were some fabulous results in the first North Midlands race on Saturday at Markeaton Park, Derby, both individually and within teams.

In the first race of the day, U11 boys, Ryan Butler and Robert Wardlaw had tremendous races to finish in 1st and 2nd place consecutively with only 1 second splitting them. The two were involved in the battle for the lead throughout the race and great team packing from Sam Tansey in 7th place culminated in the trio leading the team challenge with a very low scoring 10 points.

The U11 girls team also had three finishers in the top 10 to claim the first placed team with 24 points. Amy Aldridge was the first finisher in a terrific 6th place with Mya Acharya in 8th and Myah Seager in 10th.

Elsie Robinson led a determined challenge in the U13 girls race which saw her and Madeline Mayes of Corby AC pull clear of the rest of the field in the early stages of the race. Elsie’s hard work was rewarded with a nine second advantage as she victoriously crossed the line. The U13 girls team were 3rd on the day with Flo Hagger 14th and Gizella Perrins 30th.

Thank you to those athletes who competed as it was a fantastically supported event and each of your performances were as a result of your hard work in training.
