Thick mud was the order of the day at the Leicestershire & Rutland County Cross Country Championships at Burbage Common on Saturday but this didn’t stop Jordan Waine claiming the silver medal in the U17 women’s race despite the atrocious conditions. Caitlin Roper also made the podium by following Jordan home in 3rd place and the team won the silver medal overall when Megan Rowley finished in 9th place.

Having only just turned 11 and being a bottom aged athlete in the U13 girls race, Elsie Robinson had an absolutely stunning race to finish just outside of the medals in 4th place. Overall the team picked up the bronze medal with Eva Walters in 14th place and Etta Magill in 15th place.

Gold was the reward for the U20 women’s team whose race was combined with the Senior and Veteran women. So a brilliant 4th place for Mikela Gilmore was the start of the charge with Fiona Brown and Charlie Preston packing well to finish in 6th and 8th places respectively.

Not to be outdone, Emma Richards was the first scoring member of the U15 girl’s team in 4th place. Following closely behind and packing well were Hannah Ord in 5th place and Rhea Cooper in 8th place.
